Working hard at a mine show in Colombia
Latin American Business Consultants / Latam Translations is a sole proprietor company set up in Canada to engage in activities of translation and international representations. I, as the sole proprietor, have made my base in La Paz, Bolivia, where I have lived and worked for most of my adult life. My principal activity at present is that of freelance translator between Spanish and English, as well as French to English, both for private companies as well as for international translation organizations. My life and work are conducted in Spanish, in which language I am completely fluent, both spoken and written.
I have been translating seriously since 1997 when I began representing a company specialized in airborne geophysics that required the translation of many official tender documents between English and Spanish (both ways). These documents covered Terms of Reference, Technical-Commercial Presentations, Legal Requirements, and Contracts - many of which I negotiated and signed.
These translations, including all the commercial, technical and legal requirements, covered many official tenders in Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. The tender documents had to be first translated into English, then all the final presentations into Spanish. A letter of recommendation is attached in regard to this work.
Prior to moving to Bolivia, I had lived and worked for five years in the Province of Québec in Canada, where most of the communications were in French, such that I am experienced in translating documents from French to English.
I also attach access to a client's web page that we translated into Spanish, complete with all the technical support documents.
My work during the many years in Bolivia, with two in Peru and numerous visits to all the countries of South America, included experience as an electrical engineer, manager of several mining companies, international sales manager for airborne geophysical surveys, financial project analyst, and as general manager of my own company of representations that sold a wide range of mining and other industrial equipment and services during 27 years.
Hundreds of commercial offers were presented in Spanish for the many technical products and services that we represented over 27 years including countless visits to mines, cement plants, sugar mills, electrical generation and distribution centres, and various other industrial installations. Work with an international investment group involved significant financial and economic analyses of many different industrial and commercial projects, and investment climates, throughout Latin America.
I am a Canadian / British citizen, with degrees in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in International Business, who has lived over 40 years in Bolivia and Peru, working with many technical, financial, and commercial activities. I presently act as a full-time freelance translator between EN<>SP and FR>EN and would be very pleased to provide my services to your company for your various projects to translate brochures, manuals, technical instructions, websites, commercial documents, or general correspondence.
While I have worked mostly in the technical field, I am also quite happy to work with documents in a wide range of subjects - legal, commercial, financial, tourism, engineering, etc.
SDL Trados 2017 is a modern computer-assisted translation (CAT) program used to support my work, as well as the complete suite of Microsoft programs. I am able to translate 3000+ words per day, depending on the technical complexity.
